A special evening as Tate Modern Lates explores Mire Lee’s Hyundai Commission Open Wound. In collaboration with Aphex Twin and Warp Records catch a listening experience to coincide with the reissue of Selected Ambient Works Volume II. The album reimagines the sounds of a power station, drawing on lucid dreaming and synaesthesia. Submerse yourself in these unique sounds in the South Tank.


Due to expected demand this requires a free ticket, available to book here at 14.00 on the 25 October.

NONCLASSICAL AT 20: LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

HACKNEY EMPIRE

On Saturday evening, nonclassical are joining forces with the London Symphony Orchestra to celebrate the most adventurous sounds in orchestral music today. Transforming Hackney Empire into a club, they are spotlighting thirteen visionary composers defining the here, now and future of classical music, including sonic polymath Mica Levi, acclaimed electronic artist Beatrice Dillon, and the ever-inventive producer, DJ Matthew Herbert, who spins special contemporary classical-meets-dance music sets throughout the evening.


Expect live electronics, surprising instruments in the form of bubblewrap and drum machine, and a host of world premiere

Deeper Into Movies presents a rarely screened documentary of Ren Hang, one of the leading lights of the new generation of Chinese photographers, despite enduring censorship and intimidation from the authorities throughout his career.

MARTIN O’BRIEN & ZACK MENNELL: WHISTLING AS THE NIGHT CALLS 

VSSL STUDIO

Deptford I 1 November to 1 December

Martin O’Brien's performances explore death and dying, what it means to be born with a life shortening disease, and the philosophical implications of living longer than expected. For these new photographs, which extend from their performance making and documentary practices, the pair exhumed strange actions from O'Brien's body of work, situating them amidst the ruins, performing for ghosts and searching for more-than-human presences through Mennell's photochemical process.

BOOK LAUNCH

ZIMMERS OF SOUTHALL BY HARKLKARAN

The launch event for Zimmers of Southall will be hosted by Raj Dhunna as he converses with Hark1karan followed by a Q&A. It will conclude with a screening of Hark1karan and Alex Donaldson's new short documentary, 'A Portrait of Central Hill'.


Zimmers of Southall is a documentary photo book delving into the rich layers of Panjabi culture in West London and a new way of capturing modern Britain. The book captures the intricate layers of Southall through images of tradition, faith, caste, grassroots protest, relationships, and city life.

LESBIAN WRESTLING: HALLOWEEN EDITION

MONICA'S WRESTLING STUDIO

ONLY for those who identify as lesbian, bisexual, or dyke, including transfemmes and transmascs. Join for a high-octane Halloween edition of the lesbian wrestling party organised by Sex and Rage collective. The event will include a kinky wrestling workshop led by Black Venus, followed by wrestling matches and the chance for mini sessions with your favourite wrestlers.

The London-based Ukrainian music label and collective ШЩЦ is throwing an experimental dance night in Stoke Newington Old Church, inviting an edgy line-up from London’s underground scene. Expect a DJ set from rising star @bloodofaza and live music performances by @scarby2007 @777siel @kiikamor and @icecoldtapwaterAlso @chrisowen__ will present a singing choir performance and @david_varhegyi will hold his magic ceremony.
